RADIA - My Self-Created App

This is my app, RADIA. I had originally created this app for the Blue Ocean Competition, which is an entrepreneurial competition for high school students where they create their own business ideas in order to solve a problem. Over time, RADIA had expanded into something that I am truly very passionate about.

I created RADIA in order to solve a bigger problem, the fact that millions of people in the world were blind from the dangers of radiation. To fix this, I designed and created an app that turns hard to understand data into clear, simple information - so that everyone can be educated on radiation.

Instead of showing confusing numbers, RADIA explains what those numbers actually mean. It shows radiation levels in real time using trusted environmental data, and clearly tells you whether the level is normal or something you should be cautious about.

But RADIA is more than just a monitoring tool. It’s also educational. Through short lessons, visuals, quizzes, and daily facts, users learn where radiation comes from, how it affects the body, and how to stay safe. There’s even a dose calculator — for example, you can type in “a seven-hour flight,” and RADIA explains how much radiation exposure that actually means in a simple way.

For users who already own a radiation detector, RADIA can connect through Bluetooth and translate complex readings into clear, understandable information. The goal isn’t to scare people — it’s to empower them with knowledge. RADIA makes the invisible visible and helps people make confident, informed decisions.

Unlike many radiation apps on the market, RADIA covers multiple types of radiation — UV, solar, gamma, X-rays and more — all in one place. If radiation were visible, RADIA would be the glasses that let you see it.

Existing radiation tools are often expensive, technical, and intimidating. RADIA creates a new market space by focusing on simplicity, accessibility, and education instead of fear or professional-only use. It eliminates unnecessary raw data and reduces complexity, replacing it with simple language and clear explanations.

If more people are aware of the lurking dangers of our planet, then more people will avoid the excessive dangers that it has in store for us.

I am sharing this to encourage you to create freely and not be afraid to put your ideas out there.
